Spotify Becomes Spotispy with Secret Tracking Cookie
How can a great Spotify US launch start to roll downhill so fast? Spotify took over the music world a few weeks ago when they officially launched their US service, now we've had two bad things happen ... namely a new secret tracking Spotify cookie and a Spotify lawsuit for patent infringement.
The secret Spotify cookie come courtesy of Kissmetrics, who turns Spotify into Spotispy with a rogue cookie that cannot be disabled, even when the user resorts to meaures like turning off cookies in their browser, using any kind of private browsing mode or "do not track" features. Basically if you try to shut it off, it still keeps following you.
Creepy. I will use google music then.

Spotify Becomes a Pandora Radio-Like Experience with Echofi
EchoNest has created a Pandora Radio-like streaming radio feature for use in the Spotify app, and they're calling it Echofi. The Echofi experience is pretty smooth -- type in an artist, and it will launch Spotify and play music similar to that artist.
Echofi creates a nice alternative to the normal Spotify playlist experience, by creating a streaming radio that runs on its own and brings a sense of music discovery. You only have to drive it as much as you want to, like Pandora. In a Spotify vs. Pandora comparison it's a little more clunky as it involves both your browser and the Spotify app to be open, whereas Pandora is contained into one item. Pandora also has its Music Genome recommendation engine, which has a long history of proven success. Echofi is a great start.
Ok...totally new to this whole Magilla. Lost like an oldster at an internet bar. Someone wanna give me the skinny? I think there is a lot to like here, but I can't make it happen.
Y'all suck...I finally buy into this whole file sharing thing and nobody has any hints. I sorted out some stuff...I subscribed...the $4.99 range, not the full deal. So far, liking what I am experiencing. But physical copies, for me, are still the way to go. So I will taste some stuff and prob'ly buy a bunch of new music. Have you all moved on already????
i don't use it often but when i do, i just use the free version to listen to an album before i decide to buy it. other times, like when i'm working on the computer for an hour or two, i'll listen to something that i only have on vinyl but either never got a d/l code or got too lazy to use it. definitely not my preferred means of music listening so i'm not really much help.
I really just don't have time to listen to music as much as I used to. :(
