Thread: Sucker Punch

i get what BoobyTrap is saying. what i have come to the conclusion is i don't give a flying monkey's butt what any one of those critics or journalists say about the movie. i know for me, it'll probably be about fun and entertainment (and i admit that i'll dig the eye candy as well, but that's just me). what is dumb, it slapping a label on the film that only conjures up controversy because people need something to bitch about. people can't just enjoy a movie just for enjoyment's sake.

and the bottom line is:
no man knows what it's like to be a woman and no woman knows what it's like to be a man.

i just want to see this movie and hope that i will be entertained. that is all.

Maybe it's just the way you HAMMER on about feminist ideals and the forum you chose to do it in. Most of the reviews/editorials regarding this flick say it has no story...yet they wax on about these deep philosphical issues that it presents...whaaaaaa???? Look, this is just a big dumb movie. We get it. Men are bad...white men in particular. And the empowerment you seek is male genitalia being violated in the most savage way possible. And there is NOOOOOO hypocrisy there at all. As far as men being 'exploited' in movies, well I imagine that when the female demographics(ie $$$$$$) start being as important as the male demographics, we will see all the third leggage/man knuckle you desire. Until then...oh well.

Just saw sucker punch yesterday. short story: hated it.

This was a musical in action form. Instead of characters breaking into song they started capping fools. That the action numbers were tied to music made them feel a lot like a series of music videos tied weakly together by a plot of fantasy atop fantasy. i had a problem with the obvious belief that women scantily clad kicking ass is some hat tip to positive femininity. but the real problem i ahd with the movie was the use of covers. why cover the stooges, jefferson airplane, and the beatles? why not use the original tracks? in a film full of distractions the liberal use of covered songs was the biggest for me.

I'm not mad and I am sorry if I offended, but someone had to call it. Booby comes on here all the time and rants at everything, I'm not saying that everyone has to agree all the time, but the constant bombardment just wears thin. If you are going to go around SHOUTING all the time, don't be surprised when someone says, 'Can you turn it down a little bit?' I certainly don't want this forum to lose more people, so, apologies.
