I dunno... I mean, it sounds like it would be funny, but I was kind of hoping to be able to live my entire life without hearing it.
I bet, if it is a gag, and Snyder read this...he's kicking hisself.
Ok...I just got back from this and Paul(yes, I did not go opening weekends of both...couldn't...sue me).
Visually this movie is as awesome as it should be. Storytelling is as expected, Graphic Novel + Video Game by way of Music Video. But that's not why it ultimately fails. I have been fanboying this flick for months, and I still say you should see it(in IMAX...because if ever there was a reason for IMAX, this is it...sound+picture are stunning!), but this movie fails in the end because it was not rated R. And not because of the violence. There is that in spades. But because of the sexuality. This flick is like those hotel porno cuts...just as soon as things are about to get interesting, time to cut away. It neuters the danger/peril that you feel these girls are in and basically renders a lot of the film pointless. There is a great idea/good movie here and credit is definitely deserved for what they tried. I look forward to see the eventual directors cut because I think that will help. The girls...ok. Like I said, the sexuality is so neutered that it's difficult to feel anything. Abbie Cornish stood out, what else has she been in because she came off really well(she had to be in the Runaways, because she so looks like a young Lita Ford). And Jenna Malone was cute in an elfin kind of way. Stay for the musical number during the credits.
Oh, and just to address the female empowerment topic...well, if you factor in that all of the males in this flick come off as wretched bloated blotchy sweaty rapists and abusers...yes the women come off as tortured angels. It's retarded, but well meaning...so be nice.
I would have to give it a b-/c+ and say this, if you can see this and focus on it's strengths...you will enjoy it. If you are gonna get picky...STAY HOME.:flame:
Sucker Punch Blu-ray Review
They didn't like the movie, but they loved the disc.
Watched the extended cut last night. Couldn't figure out the extra 11 mins besides the added music sequence and the Hamm scene at the end. It fit together well. Should've just run that way from release day...
Blu-ray Review: Sucker Punch Extended Cut | Geeks of Doom
Spot-on. This guy nailed it.Quote:
Sucker Punch, a film from Zack Snyder, the visionary director of 300 and Watchmen, is an enigma. After 3 viewings of this film, I’m still not certain if I love it or hate it because, while it has plenty of flaws that would make any average movie crumble like the CGI sets of this movie’s fantasy-in-fantasy, it also has a lot of truly amazing surface level elements that have the ability to provide a real enjoyment of the film. And to appreciate this movie, I think you have to have the ability to enjoy it for what it is: A cheesecake, live-action adaptation of a burlesque poster for the movie Inception. Confused yet? Of course you are! So am I!
