As for moving the thread to RH... my two cents is that since Wonderama was a television show it belongs here. RH seems to be the place for news/gossip related and viral internet stuff, no?

In a world where there were only 13(if you were lucky and the rabbit ears got all of em) channels, Wonderama was the center of the universe. Adults usually left the room when it came on and turned a blind eye. Bob McAllister was an adult, but never talked down or judged. It was a wonderful thing, and, unless you experienced it...it probably seems pedestrian or even silly. Shame on you. Different times. To those of us that grew up with it, WONDERAMA was mandatory and has never left our hearts and minds. Then again, I have vivid memories of The Banana Splits and Wacky Racers.

Was this guy local to LA, or did he get syndicated around the country? I don't remember this from my wonder years (late 60's, early 70's) in Philadelphia & New York.

I watched the first video the OP linked to and couldn't help feeling sorry for the black kids (with their big beautiful afros) in the audience. Christ, McAllister had a dozen of those twist-off cans on that table and he couldn't call on one brutha or sistah to take a shot at them? They musta been thinking "What's a ***** gotta do -- besides be white -- to win something around here?"

Wonderama was filmed /taped in NYC and syndictated

Wonderama was shown on Sundays so if you had obligations/Sunday
school then you might miss it.

If you were a kid in the 70's you watched this.
I dug this show + they showed WB cartoons!
Back in the day they didn't show cartoons 24/7
