    Default Time Warner Scrambled

The face of the new time warner, this is NBC digital.

I'm not sure if this is all over LA but it starts here in the East Valley next month.

They have already turned off all the local digital channels.

No matter how much you paid for that state of the art tv, it is useless now unless you have a de-scrambler box.

On July 29th, analog channels will disappear from TW cable and all channels will be scrambled. Yes, the FREE channels are gone.

You have to get a de-scrambler box for every tv and you have to activate them all.

There is no fee for the box and no monthly charge until 1-1-16, than it's $1.50 each box.......

I have called and complained to no avail but I did order 3 boxes figuring I have 18 months to figure out what service I will switch to.
The lady asked me..how many tv's do you have..I said it's none of your business....she said....it is now.

There was an article in the LA Times about the 4 nuclear power stations that run 24/7 just to keep all the tv boxes running just in the US.

Here's a TW forum that sucks too: Time Warner Cable NYC - Free OTA Channels now Scrambled - Time Warner Cable | DSLReports Forums

So now I'm looking for options, if I get a dish do I need a box for each tv......

Thanks for the heads up, I had received the propaganda from them but it was confusing.

Verizon FIOS. Dumped TWC many, many moons ago. Too difficult to deal with

Emprie, quick question? Did you ditch cable? Because reading the fourm you linked to it seems like all the people this is effecting are people who cut cable (ie no BASIC cable (1-70) and no digtal cable)

Only one of our TV's has a digtal cable box, and the rest we pay just for basic cable (ch 2-70) So I do not think this would effect people like me

I didn't ditch the cable yet, I'm keeping all my options open.

    It will effect you.

We have a box that controls 2 tv's, living room and dining room that will be fine as long as you want the same channel on both tv's.

We have a tv in the bedroom and one in the garage (where I watch the Kings) with just cable pluged in, basic, these tv's and any other tv without a descrambler box will not receive any picture at all.....nothing and TW will not carry any analog signals.

We pay for basic and 1 tier for the box for our house. After this kicks in we will have to pay for each box for each tv as well.

This is just the beginning, all of LA will follow.

Below is the letter from TW.
