Thread: Tony Sly (No Use For A Name) we hardly knew thee

very saddened by this news. No Use For A Name was a big part of high school for me.

It is with great sorrow that we must say goodbye to Tony Sly of No Use For A Name. We received a call earlier today of his passing, and are devastated. We have lost an incredible talent, friend, and father – one of the true greats. Fat Mike had this to say: “One of my dearest friends and favorite song writers has gone way too soon. Tony, you will be greatly missed.”

so sad to hear this. NUFAN was one of the first punk bands I started listening to.

one of my husband's favorite bands. i just read something about the band playing a show fairly recently. what a shock. RIP.

He was on tour w/ joey cape (last day of the tour was the 29th) and NUFAN was recording a new album.

No Use for a Name's Tony Sly Dead at 41 | SPIN | Newswire

He's probably not familiar to most but I grew up listening to him (and No Use For a Name). They played the West Coast frequently and he even played acoustic shows often as well in recent years. This is beyond shocking to me and he will certainly be deeply missed.
