Thread: The vinyl thread (v2.0)

Well if it isn't lemme know cause im considering it, i wouldn't be able to come get it till the weekend though.

lucsb's player's a good price, ian. i would've got it if it were closer by. it was already hard enough for us to go to tustin (30 min) away. i wasn't going to be in the LA area any time in the near future so i passed, but i think it's a nice player. didn't realize it had a dust cover until i saw the craigslist ad. i needed a player with a cover to discourage my kid from sticking her fingers in it, lol.

for a couple days I was running my table through Bose speakers, great sound for small spaces, but no bass.

lol. ya. some day when i have the money. i'm hoping i find small speakers though. they make those, right...? even the guy i bought the turntable off of had GIANT speakers. GIANT. that wasn't the half of it though. he had boxes upon boxes upon boxes of vinyl in his home. the entire floor? covered in boxes of vinyl. bookshelves, too. my eyes were like this:
apparently, he buys them in bulk and then flips whatever he doesn't want to keep. he gets his turntables that way also so i'm guessing that's what he was doing with the one i have.


btw, ian, i also pre-ordered the interpunk release of the alk3 re-press of from here to infirmary also and just got notice that it shipped. can't wait!

Nice, i havnt got mine yet but i imagine i will soon, i ordered the repress of Saves The Day - Stay What You Are at the same time.

Its been pretty quiet for me the last couple weeks in terms of receiving vinyl, but that should change next week. Im supposed to get in my blue copy of Lucero tomorrow as well

i've found smallish speakers at goodwill for $20/pair, they're out there. that guy sounds like the people you run into at the swap meet. they buy entire collections and just sell whatever they don't want.

Got my blue Lucero TMFW in today. Looks good but i like the clear better, ill probably eventually let go of the blue.

ya, i'm gonna try not to buy anymore until maybe after the new year. they were saying on vc that the dustin kensrue album that came out a few years ago will get pressed early next year so i will be preordering that for sure. otherwise, i've gone from only 50-60 records before this thread started to 150 so i need to take a break and enjoy the ones i acquired.
i can see why you like the clear, it did look nice. most times i will go with blue cause you know me... but i will say, i wasn't too crazy about the blue alk3 pressing that shopradiocast posted. it didn't look like it went with the album art all that well and when there's a better option, i'll always go for the better.

did you know if you friend rancid on facebook, they post pics of records they're currently listening to or recently acquired? it's pretty neat.

ah ok, i'll check out the thrift store (probably less of a burden on my husband since i don't like to meet up strangers from CL by myself, lol). and ya, the guy totally looked like he trolls the flea markets. it was amazing how much vinyl he had..... and scary. i don't even know if he knows what all he has. it was like an episode of hoarders: records edition.

got the new aesthetic perfection box set cause it came with a 7" single! i'll make a vid for the b-side as soon as my rack is ready. it also came with all that other cool stuff and the box itself was signed and hand numbered

that's wild. i was reading some vinyl nerd thread at vinyl collective and apparently there's a 7" that rocket from the crypt issued out to any fan who got a RFTC tattoo. so basically, it was super rare and only for super fans. the lengths some people'll go to for a 7", haha.

i finally cataloged all my records. i found discogs didn't allow me to make a complete list since you basically have to rely on people to create a listing before you can add it to your collection. i made one listing, but it was too time consuming and some nerd corrected me so i gave up. here's my deadformat list instead:
