You'll probably like The City & The City since it's combines mystery fiction and weird science fiction.

Iron Council and his two other Bas-Lag novels are interesting (Perdido Street Station and The Scar), but man, does that man love to go on political tangents in Iron Council.

I started reading Dune. Last time I read it was in junior high. Loved it then. So why is it that it is boring me to death now???

Just started the Keeper of the Swords series (first book Diamond Sword, Wooden Sword) by Russian author Nick Perumov. Silly title but really good so far, very dark and interesting fantasy setting.

Egan's books are often hard to find in the USA. I found this at Powell's in Portland, OR.

    Arkansas - John Brandon

Good read. Slows down a bit in the middle but really picks up the last 1/3. Recommended.
