I just finished reading Flannery O’ Connor’s short story collection “Everything That Rises Must Converge,” which I thought was pretty good. I should definitely read more of her stories.

I also finished reading Chuck Palahniuk’s “Stranger Than Fiction,” which is a collection of essays. That Chuck Palahniuk has definitely lead an interesting life!

Currently, I am reading Jorge Luis Borges’ “Collected Fictions.”

Yep, I have been on a collection kick lately. It happens.

I'm about to take off on a two-week vacation and will bring along:

    1. "Fast Food Nation" by Eric Schlosser (let's see what all the fuss is about)

    2. "Labyrinths" by Jorge Luis Borges.

    3. "American Prometheus," a biography of J. Robert Oppenheimer, which just won the National Book Award.

Cool Re-reading, then about to give as a gift, the most poignant novel ever written:

Currently reading the last of the 3 available Hyperion "Lost" books (first two written by Hapka, last one by Thompson). Each book is roughly 160 pages. [That would normally be warning sign number one.]

The plot of each consists of taking an unknown (and uninteresting) character X from the island, have a bit of interaction with the main characters, then go through X's backstory via flashback every other chapter. The worst thing I found is these 3 books' characters are all absolute tools.

If you like the show, I recommend avoiding the books at all costs since they add nothing to the mythology (they are probably not allowed to). Big waste of time.
