The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors By James D. Hornfischer

Excellent. One of the best WWII books I've ever read. Cannot put it down.

It chronicles theBattle off Samar - Oct 25th, 1944.

Cannot recommend this highly enough. If you have even the slightest interest in Naval warfare during WWII, pick this one up.

Had to wait to read this due to my 11-year old daughter and how slow she was to finish it over the summer, but I just finished

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

All I can say is I was very happy with the book. Rowling is a very good writer, who keeps her reader hooked. I enjoyed the series and the finale very much. Would suggest it to anyone.

Just finished Coalescent by Stephen Baxter the other day. Baxter writes really good "hard science fiction" and this is no exception.

Currently rereading My War Gone By, I Miss It So by Anthony Loyd. A dark, personal look into the Bosnian War. The way Loyd writes the chronology can be screwy at times, but you get used it pretty quick.

Just finished Armageddon's Children by Terry Brooks. It's the first book in the Genesis of Shannara trilogy, set in post-apocalyptic Seattle. Basically a follow-on trilogy to his Word/Void trilogy.

Good stuff. I'm on to read the second book now.

Just bought a copy of Mary Stewart's "The Crystal Cave." It's Arthurian legend that I read when I was in high school. It was good then, and it's GREAT now.
