I'm reading it on the Nook, but I'm liking it so much that I'd really like to see if I can find a nice, old hardcover version of the three books. B&N has a nice, illustrated new-edition hardcover of it.
Just started "The Silent Sea" by Clive Cussler. Its the seventh book in the Oregon Files series. Awesome books, they read like movies. Juan Cabrillo is awesome. Not as bad ass as Mitch Rapp (Vince Flynn) or Scot Harvath (Brad Thor) but a tough dude!
Happy Towel Day to everyone!
Time to read the Hithchiker's for 42th time or so ...
I know this forum is normally dedicated to movie and music news, but I felt it was the best place to launch this inquiry. Hope you all do not mind. wavey:
I would like to know what the title and author of the last book you read that you either really liked, resonated with you, or made you think differently/see things from another perspective. Fiction. Non-fiction. Old. New. What book made a lasting impression and why?
Thank you in advance for sharing. Your input is appreciated. Cheers! :beerchug:
there is a difference between asking what are you reading right now and what was the last book you enjoyed. Its like asking what beverage are you drinking vs what was the last beverage you drank that was amazing.
That said my answer without question "A Confederacy of Dunces" without question. Maybe the only book I have ever read that actually made me laugh.
I read "A Confederacy of Dunces" and I agree, it is good. It annoyed me a bit, but then it got me questioning, "What about this character is annoying me?" That opened up a whole 'nother can of worms :)
Great book!
The last book I read that I truly enjoyed was "Water for Elephants". Something about circuses and the 1930's, it just get's my vote every time. Also, I loved how it told the story through the memory of an old man, stuck in a convalescent home, reminiscing about his past. It read so well, and was so thoroughly researched. I truly appreciated this book, and enjoyed in immensely. I actually got book apathy (when you finish reading a story, and you feel lost because the tale is over) after this one

Haven't finished it yet, but I am enjoying it so far. It IS a bit like Firefly, but I was a fan of the series, so it's all good.
