It's the book that they based the series The Wire on. I've been a fan of his since I started watching Homicide in the 90s. It was interesting to see what the drug trade and drug addiction is like from their standpoint is like as well as the attitude of the police and city bureaucracy. It's also pretty depressing. Yeah this is not a book where you can expect the characters rise above everything. Apparently they also turned the book into a mini series which I would be interested in watching.
I might have to check that out, I'm also a HUGE fan of Homicide and The Wire.

I am currently reading THE DIRT, an autobiography of one of my favorite Los Angeles metal bands, the mighty Motley Crue. It's a great book.

Yeah, I really tried to get myself through. I don't like to just leave a book unfinished because I feel like I'm unsatisfied either way. I don't do very well with books that have social and/or political commentary - it's hard for me to pick up on initially. That's probably why I missed the point the first time I read an Andrew Vachss book.

DiehardKingsFan - The Corner is a must if you're a Homicide or Wire fan! :D I really wish Simon would write more books. After I read Homicide, I searched for a long time for The Corner at book stores....Simon's writing is just fantastic.

Um, I don't get it. Adgy says to tell you that I'm not old enough to understand those references. He also is calling you "grandpa."

I know who both Super Dave and David Cassidy are! Does that make me a grandpa too?

Anyways, no one is ever too young to appreciate the awesomeness of David Cassidy.

    I think I love you.

So I just finished The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo and now onto

And I have to say that Salander is one of the most compelling characters I have ever read about in a book.

Quik FYI...Im finishing the Master and Margarita. Good read to be sure. Wont go on record as saying its my favorite book of all time but I am certainly glad I read it.

As for Hemingway- next book should be "For Whom The Bell Tolls" or any collection of Hemingway's Short Stories like the Nick Adams collection. Islands in the Stream is the oddball Hemingway I enjoy as well....especially if you are into deep sea fishing.
