Judging solely by size/scope of his fame/audience. Was not accounting for his personal issues. If you are going to travel down that road Jackson deserved a 'tribute' like Mussolini received.

Not disagreeing. But Michael Jackson is to Elvis Presley, whereas Whitney is to Dolly Parton. MJ was a cultural phenomenon, and Whitney was a Star. Regardless, I thought the Staples celebration for Jackson was fairly silly as well. He got a send off that some dignitaries don't even get. Once again, I am not pro Michael Jackson and this solely has to do with the scope of his stardom.
