WTF is the deal with that Fred kid on Nickelodeon?!?!

I have three little girls aged 6, 5, & 3 and like most kids they like to watch shows on the various kid networks. They like the shows most kids like I suppose, Sponge Bob, Backyardigans and the like. I don't pay too much attention other to make sure they are not watching something I don't want them watching.

So today they had it on "Fred:The Movie." With this guy as "Fred"

I realize that a lot of kid shows are annoying for adults but this one is horrible beyond comprehension. The kids voice is grating, he screams like a girl and acts like a candyassed idiot. I know that the kid is an actor and is probably laughing all the way to the bank, but seriously, this show sucks hard.

Sucks so hard that I actually found myself getting pissed off, thinking that if I ever met the guys responsible for it I would kick them in the balls.

I cannot overstate how much it blows. Mind numbingly stupid and annoying beyond almost anything I have ever seen.

I know that it may seem strange that I am ranting over a kids show but it is that bad.

Anyone else with kids run into it?

From what i know he started on youtube. yes, extremely annoying.

My grandchildren are not allowed to watch even Spongebob anymore. One of the characters on there spits and the two little monsters decided it would be fun to spit! I hate spitting more than just about anything!

As annoying as some of this newer generation stuff is i still see it as good "clean" fun for the most part. Its the Twilight, vampire, HBO, B.S you have to keep them away from.

Kids like stupid ****. Always have and always will.

The REAL problem is that now ****ing ADULTS are paying attention to the **** that kids like and making them "legitimate" mainstream "stars" and topics of discussion.

I've got 14 and 6 year old sisters. I'm 33.

I hear more about Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Twilight, Harry Potter, Selena Gomez, Fred etc etc etc from the "adult world" than I do from the two of them and all their retarded friends combined.

That's the other thing...

When we were all growing up there was about two hours of television a day on one or two channels AT MOST that was devoted to cartoons and kids programming.

Maybe three hours on Saturday morning.

So sure... we got Duck Tales, Animaniacs, The REAL Ghostbusters and some other good'ns...

but now there's like six kids networks all pumping out 24 hour a day, 7 day a week programming.

They're creating brand identity in kids now... not creating quality programming.

^This. Also the content in cartoons now is completely different. I miss the simple humor of a Tom & Jerry cartoon or watching the antics of the Three Stooges on a Saturday morning :12smile:

This change happened in the 90's with the Children's Television Act and networks having to broadcast E/I programming. It's not worth it for networks to show this kind of programming now. I don't think cable networks are subject to these rules.
