Kingsqueen has been pestering me to post this, so...
This movie frustrated me. First off...does no one edit **** anymore. A full 1/2 hour could have been lost from this LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOng movie and it might have improved things. I love Fassbender, but this was the worst performance I have ever seen him commit. He is a Jew who grew up in German camps and yet he has an English accent that fades into Irish(?) the longer he talks. Really? Nice attention to detail. Banshee is American...wait, what? And the whole 'Mutant is Beautiful' message is hammered the **** to death. McAvoy was ok. The geek cameos were nice(Ironside/Ray Wise), but the SPOILER ALERT
Wolverine cameo was a mess. If it had been a young Wolverine, ok...might have been cool. But Jackman, who looked older that Fassbender/MacAvoy was silly. That would make him, what, 75 in the movies that he was a part of(and I am not one of those nitpick fanboys, most of the time) but that is just stoopid. Simply to horn in Jackman. Havok was wasted and the token black X-man, well, that was just silly. Bacon was ok as Sebastian Shaw, but hey...thanks for NO EXPLANATION as to whether he got his mutant powers at birth or through experimentation. January Jones was given a lot of narrative to carry(through dialogue...lazy) and she was terrible as an actress...oh, but she looked good, right? Nope. FAILURE. Just another piece of X-crement disguised as a superhero flick.
Not to go all fanboy, but Wolverine doesn't age and no one knows how old he is, right? Cuz his mutant powers are feral senses and healing and the healing means he'll never age. So he can be in a movie all the way back the middle ages and still be Hugh Jackman.
And was Kevin Bacon getting mutant powers by experimentation ever really an option? I just assumed he was a mutant like all the rest of them.

I agree about Fassbender's accent, but I thought he was still super badass.
