Thread: Year One

Ok...the reason why this movie sucks...it didn't get half this much attention when it was in theaters. Or when it came out on dvd. So, folks watched it on cable/dish when they were already paying for the subscription. No harm no foul. Lowered expectations do not save this movie from what it was. A huge fail. Ok...if you had paid to see it, if it was on during a plane flight, if it was the last movie you knew you were going to watch before the rapture...would you be so kind? NO. This was a **** movie made by bean counters that were trying to sell you a bill of goods. Michael Cera & Jack Black in an irreverant comedy from the third Ghostbuster. This should have been a tremendously funny movie. Harold Ramis knows his way around a dark joke or two. And if the Bible isn't ready to be mined for laughs then I don't know what is. But someone got scared. And this movie is about as sharp as wet tissue paper(Foghorn Leghorn). That's why I hate this movie. It's toothless and saying...mmmmmit'sokay allows Hollywood to keep making dumb/safe movies. I wouldn't wipe my worst enemies ass with this movie.

Not to worry...you summed up the main fault nicely!

Like I said, humor is different for everyone and I feel the same way about a lot of "funny" movies that come out nowadays as you do about Year One. Like I said, The Other Guys was IMO really dumb. There was one scene in that movie that really made me laugh and the rest of the time I was trying to understand why the people in the theater were laughing so hard. I agree with the Doc that I just watched Year One as a stupid comedy. Nothing more.
