Just saw "Into darkness" and if you enjoyed the first one, you'll enjoy more of the same. Heck of a good time.

I'll leave it at that for now.

Review: 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Often Thrills, But Undone By An Underwritten Villain & Thin Story | The Playlist

And for the first hour or so, it's just as enjoyable as the original, but by the time the credits roll, there's a sense that you're undernourished and unsatisfied; you've been on a decent ride, but not one that really adds up to anything by the time you're done. "Star Trek Into Darkness" is a long, long way from a disaster, but it's hard not to feel that Abrams' mystery box turned out to be a bit empty this time out. [C+]

Sounds like a JJ Abrams piece.

Just saw Into Darkness and it's terrific! The acting, visuals and story are very good. One of the funniest Trek movies if not the funniest. If I have any beef with it, it's that they did not focus enough on the main villain. And overall the story feels a little lightweight. They wasted several good opportunities to expand on the Trek universe which I think most fans will easily spot. But I'll stop there since no spoilers. I'm heading back to see it again with the SO once stateside. Good stuff.

Didn't care too much for it. It's fine, I guess, but you really need to turn off your brain for this one. It approaches Michael Bay levels of inanity. I like the cast. Nice to see Robocop getting some work. Had some fun moments and good visuals but I just can't get past all the really dumb stuff. Dr. Naysay said it "Sounds like a JJ Abrams piece" and that probably sums it up best. Just absolutely no substance or thought in this one. I really tried to suspend my disbelief going in but it just asked too much from me. Jealous of those that were able to.

    Minor Spoiler:

How they handled the gravity disaster in an artificial gravity environment just absolutely ****s me. It's so idiotic on the most basic of levels.

Back in the heyday of the TV shows (the 90s) they used to call that "techno-babble".

Just saw it. Watched it with my nerdiest Star Trek fan buddy.

Neither of us gave a crap that it makes no sense, violates dozens of laws of physics or other technobabblistic type stuff because... like Iron Man 3...

It's just a really fun time at the movies. The cast is still perfectly cast, the action is still actiony action, the humor is still funny...

I just really like these movies.

I think JJ Abrams Star Trek is to Rodenberry's Star Trek what Oasis is to the Beatles.

I also enjoyed it quite a bit, despite it's many flaws.

This is also my first exposure to Benedict Cumberbatch and he was pretty great.
