Some people just haven't gotten around to it yet, man.
"Only a numbskull thinks he knows things about things he knows nothing about."
"It's understanding that makes it possible for people like us to tolerate a person like yourself."
It's 6 hour long episodes. I promise you adgy has re-watched oldboy or some other such nonsense since the debut episode of Sherlock.

Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci Talk 'Star Trek Into Darkness' - Speakeasy - WSJ
The original Star Trek mirrored the Civil Rights movement. It mirrored some progressive ideas that were not exactly popular at the time, like relations with the Soviet Union during the Cold War as represented by having a Russian officer. We felt that Star Trek was always embedded in its best forms in the world that we live in. The world that we happen to currently live in involves issues of terrorism and of war and of sovereignty. So surely recent events and the things happening in the century were part of our calculus.
I haven't watched either. Was too busy watching Pirates of the Caribbean.
Funny, even with a $70 million weekend they are saying that Star Trek 'underperformed' and came in soft.
I don't have Netflix, but I see it is available for free on Amazon Prime streaming.
I'll make a note.
