Peter Weller Joins Star Trek, And Del Toro Will Not Be Khan Bleeding Cool Comic Book, Movies and TV News and Rumors
Ok, they are already backing off the Khan rumors, doesn't rule it out though.
I hope it isn't Khan as there is no setup for it like there was in the original series/2nd movie. With the timeline jac ked around I guess you can do anything you want, but the Enterprise needs to strand him before he can take revenge.
One of the articles I read actually had that same question re:Weller. Throughout the day rumor has been back and forth on whether it's going to be Khan or not. It's a mixed deal. Khan is arguably the most universally known Star Trek(any iteration) villain so I get using him from a marketing standpoint but only if they go in a decidedly different direction. Maybe they could rework Khan's eventual stranding and set things up for a return, or just change the story entirely. I don't expect this Trek to be slavish to the original series or the movies. I have read that Pike's story is going to be further explored and there have been multiple rumblings of Nick Frost as Harry Mudd(which I cannot keep my nerdgasm in my pants over wishing for). We are going to hear more rumors than Tarentino generates on this one before it actually hits theaters in 2013...
Is TV’s SHERLOCK Playing Harry Mudd In J.J. Abrams' Next STAR TREK??
Ain't It Cool News: The best in movie, TV, DVD, and comic book news.
Better not...that should by all rights go to Nick Frost(my hero...)Deadline Hollywood reports exclusively that the fellow who plays Smaug The Dragon in the "Hobbit” movies will also be a cast member of the next “Star Trek” movie.
Benedict Cumberbatch appears to be everywhere these days. He’s on the big screen in “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy” and “War Horse” and he’s on the small screen playing the title role in the BBC’s “Sherlock.”
No word on who Cumberbatch plays. Is the world ready for a skinny Harry Mudd?
He’s terrific in “Sherlock.” I’ve not seen the movies.
Peter Weller ("Star Trek: Enterprise"), Alice Eve ("She's Out Of My League") and Noel Clarke ("Doctor Who") are also aboard for the next Trek.
