No flash support could be a problem seeing how the web seems addicted to flash content. That "best web browsing experience" might not be so great when you get that blue box trying to access a video as seen during the keynote today.

An absolute travesty. Here is what I had to say on another board earlier this afternoon
ok, you tell me how spending 1000.00 on this tablet running iPhone OS (for gods sake) is going to cannabalize anything. becasue byt the time you buy the 64 Gig with 3G and the accessories you are well over 1000.00 . I have a mac book and an iPhone. You tell me why I need this? Or for that matter why anyone running a halfway decent HP laptop and has an iPhone needs it?
I cant wait to hear this.
Look all they had to do was run this on Snow Leopard, make the damn screen go to the edge ( it looks like a photoframe), add a camera for iChatting (I mean no vido chatting? come the f on) and drop the price of the 3g one down and it would be tolerable. I wont even bother commenting on the 1GH processor. And that is another thing who in the **** would actually buy a wifi only model? I mean ser. It's useless. Congrates on your 700.00 purchase( with accessories) of your 9.7" iPod touch! Oh and one more thing, what was with the missing plug in error on the NYT website? Is it possible that this ****ing thing STILL doesnt have flash support? GAY! Now that I'm thinking about it I didnt even see a mention of an OLED screen though it has to have one right?
Im more excited about the next gen netbooks that will come out and pwn this trivial iPad. Sounds like a female hygine device
I could actually go on but I won't.
The plus side is... well... um... battery life? YAY!
Oh, and it looks like an iPhone for the elderly
I cant wait to jailbreak this thing and install windows 7 on it
Some good points being made here.
So this thing is basically an iPod touch/Kindle hybrid?
People who are complaining about the lack of (fill in the blank) need to realize that this is NOT how Apple functions. Revision A products are notoriously known for missing key features because Jobs loves to string people along with future revisions that will meet or meet these demands.
From a business standpoint, there is no sense introducing killer features on a Rev A product because it leaves little room for major improvements in the future. Besides the lack of flash and multitasking, which can be easily fixed in a software update, features such as a full Mac OSX, camera, USB, HDMI, etc. would not be included in the first revision.
IMO, flash (lite or otherwise) and multitasking are coming in a software update. I don't think iPhone OS 4.0 is ready and perhaps this will come out in June when the new iPhone comes out. Also, for people who wanted Photoshop and the like, what's not to say Adobe and others are preparing modified versions? Remember, a lot can AND will happen in 60/90 days when the iPad is fully released.
There is no way in hell that we'd get iChat or cameras for that matter because AT&T 3G cannot handle the data usage. Imagine that. I'd be iChatting with Hatter on a nightly basis from my heart shaped tub.
Just wait for the revision B iPad. With wings, USB, and a larger flash drive.
As for me, I'm selling my iPhone 3GS, picking up a 32gb iPad, and buying a used Blackberry.
Selling USB as a new "feature" in a next gen product sure doesn't seem like the way Apple would be doing business if they were truly trying to push the envelope. Hell, the fact that they're packing ONLY 64gb in this thing is silly enough considering I can get that much in four USB drives for $100.
It just gives me another reason to laugh when people talk about Microsoft being the company that is in it for the money and Apple is for the people that want efficiency. LULZ.
I agree! It will eventually replace the MacBook, but not just yet. The storage sizes are a disappointment, but flash recently came out with a 128gb size, right? Either it's upping to a bigger size or SSD in Revision B.
