Default Angry Ex-GF, Broken Camera and Equipment

This Monday, I came home to find a very angry girlfriend (now ex) trashing my apartment. I won't go into the details of what happened but I will say that I saw that my Canon 500D laying on the floor with a nice dent on the wall from where she threw it. Also laying accross the floor were my 75-300 lens, my 18-55 lens that came with the camera and my favorite lens which was a 60mm macro lens still attached to the camera body. The 75-300 had the worst damage, both lens caps had come off at the time of impact, the UV filter was shattered and now the ring around the lens is broken (image below).
As for the camera itself, I had a battery grip that was attached to the body and that is now broken, the camera itself will no longer power on with any of my six batteries. My external flash seemed to be ok but I havent had a chance to test it yet.
My question to the board is, is there anywhere that I can take my camera equipment and see what works and what should be considered a loss? Also, would the cost to fix the 500D be so expensive that it would make more sense to buy a new and better camera?
    Thanks in advance

That ****ing sucks, man. All I can recommend is taking them to your local camera shop and having them inspect everything. I hope she was hot at least.

I think there might be a joke about you having photographic evidence in there somewhere.

Seriously, sue her stupid ass. Take her to small claims court. Regardless of what you did (or didn't do) she has no right to **** w/ your property.

You can send all the gear back to Canon. Their customer service is very good. They will fix what can be repaired for a very reasonable cost. I know. I have had accidental (non-warranty) damage repaired before by Canon.

Call the 800 number and tell them what happened. They will let you know the best course of action.

Concur about the police report, then small claims. As for repair, I always take my stuff directly to Canon in Irvine, 15955 Alton Pkwy
Irvine, CA 92618. You take it down and they Fed-Ex it back, usually in three days (even after a full lens rebuild)

Thanks for the info, this isn't too far from where I work so I may just drive the stuff over there next week. Depending on the cost of repair, I may just treat myself to something new.

Canon can fix everything like new. I had a lens hit by a puck and it had $1500 damage to the $1700 lens. Canon not only fixed it like new (quickly) but only charged me $400 for some reason.
