Any mac geeks out there?

I just took the plunge and bought the new 27" iMac i5. It'll be a huge step up from my 1.25 GHz G4 iMac. I also have 3-year-old HP in my office.

My hope is to move everything from both computers onto the new iMac.

Any tips for the easiest way to transfer data from both machines?

What are your thoughts on the best way to run Windows on the mac? Fusion is coming free with my machine.

Thanks for any thoughts and/or tips!

I use Boot Camp and just switch OS's as I need to but the fusion thing sounds way easier.

Fusion is the way to go. With an i5 and loads of RAM, running Fusion will be a breeze and you won't feel a thing in terms of it hogging processing and other resources.

How much data are you transferring from each comp?

I know I have about 100 GB on my PC. I, of course, can't remember how big the hard drive is on my iMac, but it's old and I know it's not that big. I moved my iTunes and iMovie library onto an external and it has about 90 GB... So that's the long way of saying about 300 GB total.

Smallest drive on the 27" is a 1TB I think.

You could always transfer the data from mac to mac via firewire target mode. I did this with my laptop moving all my mp3's to it and it was a snap.

Thanks. That seems to be the way to go for the mac to mac move. I've been so busy at work, I haven't transfered anything yet -- but that's what the week between Christmas and New Years is for.

But so far, I LOVE my new mac!!

I made the switch from PC to a new iMac this year and I couldn't be any happier.
