I was referring to Kbps as I didn't think it was possible to hit 3.0+ Mb on 3g. Maybe you were referring to 4g?

Speed test and real use (torrent). On phone or tethered to my pc.

Ah. I was talking about 4g. Should have been more clear. My bad. I'm expecting it to bet bearer than the 220KBps too. I'm pretty sure I get double that downtown.

It will get better. On 4g I average about 4500 Kbps down but have hit 7700 a few times. Pretty solid considering it's not even rolled out here yet.

How can you tell if a phone is "Tether-friendly"? I don't see the word "Tether*" appearing on any official literature for phones or service providers.

what kind of phone do you have. just about any smart phone can tether through pdanet (June Fabrics PDA Technology Group).

If you have android it comes with wired tether. Free wireless tether requires root.
