Anyone else getting bombarded by viruses/trojans lately?

Occaisonally when I'm on this site I get a random ad that warns me I need to have my PC protected against harmful viruses and insists I install this bogus antivirus program. Now I know this is not a real ad because my real antivirus, the one I have installed on my computer (Avast), always goes haywire when the ad tries to install stuff on my computer.

Luckily pop-up blocking and realtime scanning have blocked the software from actually being installed on my computer, but I am concerned, especially since this is one of my favorite sites to visit. So far I haven't encountered this problem on any other site.

Does anyone else get these fake warnings? I really hope I'm not alone in this because I got hit with a tough virus a month or so back and had to reformat my PC in hopes it went away, and the virus was just like this (A fake ad for a fake virus scanner).

Its the "System Security 09'" virus and/or a variant of. Its a nasty rootkit. It trashed my wifes' computer about 4 months ago.

It only looks like an antivirus warning when in reality it's an image that throws you off thinking you should click. Kind of ingenious on their part. It's not limited to just LGK though, it's the same thing you'll find on many porn sites ................ err, so I'm told. It's easy to ignore or surpass though. As long as you don't click on it, you're good.

I have been getting them, but my Kapersky zaps them! My wife has gotten them too. I know she doesn't go on LGK so she must be looking at porn again.

My bet is that there is a bunch of Javascript Ads that have holes in them that the virus/browser software is picking up as a virus when it actually isn't.

If it IS however, then I wanna know.

I completely crashed my home computer, and destroyed my network at work because of this thing... on the same day.

The only link between the two is LGK. I have no screenshots or anything because both the network and my computer had to be completely reformatted. I actually just had a buddy of mine do it today. Been down a few weeks now.

The thing is I've seen this type of virus before. "System Restore 2009/2010" or "Windows Antivirus 2009/2010" Don't know how I got it before (happened when my antivirus registration was out of date and I forgot to re-update it). This is different though, what happens is that a new web window tries to open and a pop-up along the lines of "Caution: Your system is at risk! Download System Restore to scan your computer!" appears. I usually just X out of the windows, plus IE alerts me that it blocked such site from installing programs and opening up windows.

Its not LGK per-se, but I do think its one of the ads that appears on this site. I'll try and get a few screen caps when it appears, although its rare.
