Thread: Best Free Anti-Virus software

My AVAST subscription is up next week, so now I am looking for the best free anti-virus software around. Any suggestions? I am using an HP Pavilion dv7.

Avast is one of the best. Why would you want to stop using it? I've been using it for years without any issues.

Microsoft Essentials and AVG are also some of the best free software out there.

Sorry, new to the threads as of last week.
I have used Avast forever as well, but the year free trial expired. I was able to uninstall and reinstall it again and get another free month, but that was it.

You're supposed to be able to renew your free subscription without having to uninstall the program. I've had it for years without ever paying anything. As a matter of fact, my subscription ends next month. I'll renew sometime tonight just to verify.

That's how it was on my last computer, but this time around it forced me to upgrade or have my computer go unprotected. Not sure why.

I dig AVG. I use it on my windows 7 laptop, my ubuntu 12.10 desktop (when running wine), and my jelly bean galaxy S3. Never a virus, never a complaint.
