Ges and anyone else...do they have a system similar to the 3-2-1??? I like the home theater idea and the sound, but don't want to deal with the wires (6 month old son crawling etc and wires= not a good mix). Yeah the 800 is a lot, but that is why I like the sony system, but it is only 2.1 and does not fully emulate the 5.1 sound

Bose is way overpriced and you are paying more for the name than anything else. Gescom is correct that you could get way better for much less. Take a look at an audio or home theater magazine for suggestions on what to buy.

I have a decent Denon receiver that is 100x7 that I could sell for $130 and you can spend the rest on a decent 5.1 set. What's the room layout? You can always set rear speakers on the walls.

My parents have a 3-2-1 system and I was not impressed.

when it comes to bose....just say no. no. no no!!!!!! its overpriced. get yourself a nice 2.1 setup or just bite the bullet and set up a surround system like i did. i'd recommend a speaker company called NHT. they're not a huge speaker company, but they're reasonably priced, sound amazing, and are based out of California (i think?). look them up.

For $800, I'm certain you can do a whole lot better. I'll second Gescom's recommendations.

I could not agree more, Bose is the laughing stock of the A/V industry. They spend more on the packaging than the speakers themselves. The drivers in the little cube speakers are the same used in an old Sanyo 13" TV.

Speakers are on of those things that you get what you pay for, go cheap and you'll get crappy sound quality. I am a bit jaded as I deal with high quality gear on a daily basis and am often trying to steer people in the right direction. I have been able to get people into a better system for the same price if not cheaper than a Bose system.

Just my opinion, and there are crap loads out there.

A minor mistake on the specs. It's a 6x110w Denon receiver, not 7x100. I bought it for $750 3 years ago. It's the avr-1082, dual room, and packs a punch.

I am trying to downgrade for now...That is why I like things like the Polk Surroundbar and the Yamaha all in one speaker along with the 2.1 systems
