Thread: Buying a new TV....questions for you guys.

Interesting thread. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I too am thinking of cashing in my Kings season seat cancellation dividend on a new TV. I'm just starting to do my homework now. I know people who bought the Panasonic 3D Plasma and those who bought the Sharp LED. Both seem pretty happy with their sets. I'm going to have to take a critical look at both and maybe Samsung too. Good to know about Sharps image processing issues in regard to hockey.

I am still waiting for the Vizio full array LED with local dimming to come back. Vizio says that they are still going to make the 47 inch model and it should be in stores soon. I really hate the Edge Lit 3-D stuff, cause I do not even want the 3-D anyway

Sharp has a patent that has to do with full array backlit led with local dimming. Samsung, Sony, and Vizio were releasing models with these capabilities when Sharp came out and won some court ruling forcing them to stop back in 2010 i think.

So if you want full array backlit with local dimming you have to go with Sharp. I believe the 800 series and 900 series have that technology.

Last sharp lcd tv I bought died in two yrs..just sayin'...

Damnit, and they do not make a 47 or 46 in model in that area
