Thread: Camera Policy - Kings Games

What is the camera policy for Kings games at the Staples Center? I recall last game that I was afraid to bring my Canon XSi DLSR to the game...in fear that they would tell me to take it back to my car. I then get into the game and a guy is shooting pictures with my exact camera in front of me.

I have a 3 different lenses. A 50mm lens, 18-55mm kit lens and a 75-300mm zoom lens. Would prefer the zoom lens if possible.

Wife bought me tickets for the Saturday game vs. Boston. Looking forward to snapping some shots.

Cameras/Photography

No commercial or flash photography of any kind is permitted. Camcorders or any other audio/visual equipment is prohibited unless authorized by team/promoter or performer. Specifically, the use of the following equipment is not permitted:

* Lenses greater than three-and-one-half inches in length
* Telephoto or zoom lenses of any kind
* Interchangeable lenses of any kind
* Monopods or tripods
* Flash equipment of any kind

So the guy sitting in front of me was just a lucky dude?

I had a cheap coolpix and got hassled in the 100's by a red coat because he THOUGHT I was taking video.

It might be part luck and part the attitudes of whoever is on duty that day.

Exactly. It also helps if you know know the person working at the entrance way.

have it in pieces with different lenes in different bags two or more bags can help

I've taken my 70-200 zoom into a game. I just had a female put it in her purse and once we were in, switched lenses.

I had one guy tell me my lens was too long because it was longer than his ID card. I told him that policy says 3.5". He claimed that the card was the correct length, so I told him if he thought that was 3.5", then his wife was getting short-changed. At that point I went back to the car, swapped lenses and went back. He said that was much better, I replied, "So much for the 'no interchangeable lenses' rule." Damn power-hungry authoritarians. They were probably too dumb to become cops...

how does it look for a cop to shirk authority and knowingly break rules in such a manner?
