I bought a 40D last November, so, the $1399 MSRP won't be paid out from me.

Lots of really nice features, most specifically, the sensor improvements. Going to 15.1MP from 40D's 10.1, and the ISO improving from 3200 to 12,800, with the auto ISO doubling to 1600.

The LCD resolution is 4 times the DPI of the 40D. The price is right for these kinds of improvements, even for those that bought a 40D in the past year.

I still think they should have weather-sealed the 50D, raise the price to facilitate the building costs, and make put it in the D300 price range.

I really hope Canon did right with this thing. The old, sprinkle on a few megapixels, add a dash more of screen size, rewarm the body material and call it a ground breaking camera routine is getting a little old.

My wish for these manufacturers would be drop the megapixel race, and start the dynamic range race. You are seeing diminishing returns for most (I know not all, but most) people after 10mp, so stop cramming the sensor and start getting all sexy in other areas.

I think I may need a second camera! The low light capabilities and noise reduction along with the megapixels and preview screen upgrades and sensor cleaning have me salivating.

The sensor cleaning on the 40D is nice to have.

I'm still surprised at the MSRP being as low as it is.
