Charter Vs. Dish or Direct TV...
I'm sure this has been asked many times and sorry if I have
posted this in the wrong forum but...
I am paying $118 a month for cable TV Expanded (no movie or PPV channels) and
hi speed internet. There has to be a cheaper alternative or option. So I ask, is it worth
it to switch over to Dish or Direct TV? What are the pros and cons
other than the channels being different numbers than cable?
My must needs are Internet and my sports channels (FOX,
ESPN, NHL, Versus).
I have no need for a land line phone, so SBC or any other
phone company option is out.

I have DirecTV and love it. Many people on this board will tell you how much they love DirecTV.
I pay 70 per month for a HD DVR, a HD receiver and all regular channels plus all HD channels. I believe it's the HD DVR Premium package. It's a ridiculous amount of channels that I'll never watch and that's not even including any movie or sports packages.
It will include your local Fox Sports channels, 5 or so different ESPN's, NHL, and Versus.
I say go for it.
If you do decide to sign up, I'll give you my account number so that both of us can get $50 off, $10/month for the first 5 months. Let me know... (Yup, I'm shameless)

The only thing that keeps me with Charter is their cable Internet. I really like their speeds and uptime. I've bundled it up with TV and telephone and I get a decent deal on all three in one bill. Convenience over quality I guess.
If it weren't for their cable internet I would probably be with DTV.
