Thread: Clear wireless internet

Strange how they seem to have two websites:

Whenever I've looked at Clear's coverage map in the past, I found it annoying that, if I checked just the "4G" checkbox, everytime I'd move the map or zoom out/in, they would automatically re-check the "3G" and "Future Coverage" checkboxes (which I'd then have to un-check). Cheeky bastards.

I live near the Redondo Beach Pier and I do NOT get 4G coverage.

Why would one get Clear Internet coverage instead of Sprint, who I believe also has 4G ..... are they more or less at the same beta stage of rollout?

iirc, Sprint is a big investor in Clear.

WiMax was initially intended for last mile broadband, people who couldn't get infrastructure for cable or DSL. It is meant to be a replacement for a home network, not a simple "cellular" connection to a phone. You can also get a Rover puck that acts as a WiMax receiver and a wireless router for any other wifi device. There also are no current bandwidth caps, and it is month to month (no contract).

However, new phones have the wireless access point feature (I think some extra $ to activate), which acts like the puck (but sucks battery life like no tomorrow, however).
