Dislike Vista? Then you will love Mojave

I've been Microsoft free for a while now and it feels GREAT! I have a MacBook Pro as a notebook and use Kubuntu on my desktop at home. The wife has her own laptop with XP on it, but that's her problem :) As an IT guy, it's so nice to have no MS software on my system. Open Source, FTW.

HAHAHA that's a good one. UAC isn't that bad. annoying compared to xp but i can deal with it. if you're used to unix/linux it's nothing new. but performing better than xp? you probably need twice the amount of ram for that. but i'll say that with aero off, it's A LOT better than out of the box.

Wow...that's so smart. I wonder why most companies are still on XP? They must be so stupid. Or you're just way more smarter than them. Maybe you should get a job at Microsoft since they feel it's a failure and are working hard at getting their new replacement OS out... cause you obviously know more than most computer users out there :rolleyes:

Yeah RAM is cheap. My home machine is more than capable of running Vista. But you gotta understand that for most people if you had a choice with your hardware to run XP fast or Vista at moderate speeds, why "upgrade" when you get nothing out of it? I just moved on to Linux because that will run great on my hardware and everything is free. But don't mind me. I'm just a poor Systems Engineer that's too stupid for Vista. That's why I'm on XP right?

Had a user boot up this morning and prompted for her bitlocker encryption key. Once we got that from AD, it won't boot up anymore because of a crcdisk.sys error. Now she lost all her data because she can't get into safe mode, last known good configuration, etc. Putting her drive in another laptop won't work because of bitlocker.

I could update daily our Vista issues. I was against upgrading our whole company, but Microsoft put us on a pilot program and management decided to try it. Now they're regretting it and I'm laughing. Good thing I'm not in desktop support.

Blueline, I know you have only good intentions, but people actually do know a thing or two about PC's. Power users are those, who are most unhappy with the system. You see, the tests show everything, XP is much faster even with Vista being as XP-like as possible. They tried to make things better with a new service pack. But Vista was still slower. And there's coming a new service pack for XP, too. Based on the tests it's a Vista killer.

Vista is a system that many people are passing. We will buy the next operating system. Just like with Windows ME, that system was also passed because it offered nothing new.


Some of the Vista lovers should read what are you actually saying. You are saying: "Vista can be set to be exactly like XP, if you take time, buy new hardware and have a bit of luck. And it will be a bit slower in the end, but who cares about those 5% or maybe 10%"

Is that why people are supposed to buy new stuff? Is that why you guys are buying new things? To get a thing that's almost as good as the old one?

As far as software is concerned, abso****inglutely. Software, MS or not, is based solely on the idea that you need the new version. Don't believe me, check which version of IE/Safari/Firefox you are running, when Netscape surfed the web perfectly fine. What about that office application you are running? Are you telling me that Office '97 couldn't have written that book report? Emails were never sent with Outlook 2000?

IT departments have huge budgets that they MUST use up each year lest they wont be funded the next year. These budgets go to software and hardware that doesn't necessarily *work* as well as the old one, but it's the new one. It's more obvious with computer technology because next year your **** is obsolete, EVEN your software.

There were retarded ****ers showing the benchmarks about how Windows 3.11 was faster and better than Windows 95 doing their menial task. These people probably understood the benefits of Betamax or HD-DVD. It doesn't matter, switch to Vista or fall behind. In 4 years they'll be bitching how Vista is a better operating system than MS's new OS 2012, and how smart they are for keeping their home laptop using obsolete technology.
