Does anyone have a Wii Sports disc they no longer use?

My cousin was trading in a bunch of games and accidentally had the Wii Sports disc in the Madden case and the guy at the store didn't tell him, only gave him $2.50 for Wii Sports. He didn't realize the problem until everyone went to Wii on Christmas eve. We thought it was weird the store didn't tell him "hey you've got the wrong game in the case here".

Day after Christmas, my uncle called the store and they told him too bad but if he wanted to buy a Wii Sports disc, they had 3 used ones for sale for $29.99. So now we realize why the guy in the store didn't tell him he was trading in Wii Sports, because the store gave him $2.50 for a game they can re-sell for $30.

My cousin would be willing to pay for the disc, he's just hoping to not have to pay the $30-70 the game is going for on e-bay or at places like GameStop or EB games. Or maybe trade you the Madden game he wanted to trade in in the first place.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was EB Games/Gamestop.

Note it says you need the actual disk... still I'd call-up Nintendo: 1-800-255-3700.

The problem is that Nintendo doesn't sell this game out of the box. It can only be obtained inside the Wii hardware box itself - you'll never find it as a brand new standalone game on store shelves. If most kids in America are like mine, or my employer's, the disc will end up scratched within 6 months if it's their favorite game. Thus the high price for used copies on Ebay and at GameStop ("supply" is limited to one copy per Wii and "demand" is greater).

My boss called Nintendo - they will sell you a new copy of Wii Sports for $25. With all the saps buying it on Ebay for $50, you should buy a few...

If your cousin had the Madden Game in the Madden box, he'd get 2.50 for that as well? It's a rip-off either way. This is why I don't sell games back to the store. You get jipped big time.

The only place that sells Wii Sports by itself is Japan, since it doesn't come with the Wii for them. So yeah... the cheapest one sounds like 25 bucks like Drums4Pigs said. Sucks. Hopefully your cousin learns a lesson, in a way... to double check things.

The sports games give you the lowest return because they come out with updated versions every year. GameStop is paying $2.50 as a service to you - they're never going to sell that game back to another living soul...

Thanks for your help. Looks like he'll have to call Nintendo.

I think it was an EB Games that only gave him $2.50 for it and then was selling it for $30.

Some pointless information for you: GameStop and EB Games are now the same company, but they're turning all of their stores in the U.S. to "GameStop" and keeping all of their stores in Canada as "EB Games".
