Anyone have one of these yet? I have to make a decision on a new phone soon and I would like to hear word-of-mouth reviews. Thanks in advance for any info.

**** American telcos and their ridiculous data rates. The least they could do is include some lube in every monthly billing statement!

I've played with the Droid and while I prefer iPhone, it's a sweet phone. The minor lag here and there and the browser are the least favorite things I found while I tested the phone.

    A low cost tethering alternative.
PdaNet -- USB Tether/Bluetooth DUN for Android

has been one of the most popular software for Windows Mobile phones, Palm OS phones and iPhones. It is now ported to the Android system! PdaNet provides you with FULL Internet access so all your email, instant message programs will work without any setting changes. Supports both USB Tether and Bluetooth DUN.

PdaNet does NOT require root access or hacking your phone's firmware in order to work. It is just a regular Android application that works on all Android phones as-is. Tethering is fast, secure and USB mode will also charge your phone at the same time. Your phone can either connect to 3G data, WiFi, or even through VPN and PdaNet will share the connection with your computer.

Or you can flash this ROM to your phone have all the same app and allow tethering built in to the OS plus even more features that the phone is capable of.

Okay I had a massive boner for this device when I first saw the demo. I work at a mobile software development company so we get a lot of smartphones at the office. We finally got a few Droids in and I gotta say, it's not all that. I've seen it crash at least 4 times in the last two days. The keyboard LOOKS comfortable but it's definitely not. Verizon/Google promised a software update for Android in December so hopefully it'll work out the crash kinks. All in all, I won't trade my iPhone for this just yet.

I've been playing with it. My father got one... nice phone! Can't say too much, because I don't know too much, but it's pretty responsive and the screen is crystal clear. I like it.
