No, really. I think I took the same pic.
Excellent job. The lighting there sucks big time.

?, Are USB cables compatable w/ all cameras? Especially if it has one of those big round thingies on them? What is that for?

That looks like a conon one. I never use the usb cord, I just have a $15 memory card reader instead. Way faster.
Most manufatures have standard mini B type connectors (the one in your picture), a few use the micro USB, and some are A-holes and use their own, but most use the standard mini B.
The big round thingy is an RF filter. It helps eliminate interference which might hamper communication between the computer and what ever the cable is connected to.
So my wife needs to purchase a few Nikons for her work (through a purchasing agreement they have it has to be Nikon). All the DSLR stuff and lenses I am up to speed with, but I am totally out of touch with compact line. I am looking for something small (I think coolpix), I would like the lowest pixel density and fastest lens available which hopefully has good resolution. No concern about pixel count, a reasonable fast processor / AF a definite plus. Thinking Coolpix S640 as it has max aperture of f/2.7, any thoughts?
Thanks for the help,
Sam

Just took this is the back yard
I have a funky old telescope and hooked the camera to it to snap that one. It was hard as hell to keep still with my rickety tripod.
