I have built many a pc in my time, but I'm not sure I want to pay $1500 to play gears on the pc. Consoles are so much easier. You buy the game and it just works. No beta video drivers, no directX upgrades, no overheating ****. It just works.

Eh, I hear you. Really though, I spent about $800 to build mine about 5 years ago, and have to maybe update one component a year. I'm not at the top of the technology curve, but I have enough to adequately run anything that will be released in the next two years. I just have not been able to justify jumping in to the new consoles to this point.

You might want to steer clear of the 360 then.

Actually I've been very happy with my 360 purchase and Gears of War is AWESOME!

My 360 has been really reliable so far as well. It's only locked up on me once (knock on wood), but all i had to do is powercycle it and it was fine. And yes, Gears ****ing rules.

E3 was NEVER "open to the public". It was always a Trade Only show. However, they would have 60,000 people from the videogames industry attend. All you had to do was pay the money and say you were with a Printer, Video Editing Company, or make up a company name and you could attend.

It went from 60,000 people and the largest show at the LA Convention Center, to 3,000 people and a very crappy watered down show at Barkar Hanger, with all the companies showing their GOOD games in their private suites throughout the hotels in Santa Monica. Our suite was in the Shutters hotel. I was there for set up on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday last week - then went on vacation. I had no desire to be there this year. Blah!!!

Sucks for you. From the websites I follow, the coverage was as good as ever.

Why not have a public E3 type of convention that IS open to the public? God forbid the gaming industry get some actual press that doesn't involve random acts of teenage violence or some member of Congress trying to make a name for themself.
