(and wouldn't your double-negative mean that he thinks his **** DOES stink? Hahahaha)
hehehe Silly Mac user who doesn't realize that he just bought an Apple branded PC!!!!! Ah btw PC is the Hardware Architecture while Windows is the Operating System All you Mac-tastic users hate..
Linux all the way!!!! more stable than Mac can use on pretty much any hardware and most importantly it is FREE and so is 99.9% of it's software. :)
I use a mac because I like it, and have used macs since the SE days. Over the years, Microsoft hasn't really put anything out that has made me want to switch over to the windows side of things... not even during those dark days of systems 7, 8, and 9, when mac stability was often a crapshoot due to extensions conflicts.
Stability? I haven't restarted my MBA since I bought it last summer, and I use it every day, for up 8 hours a day. I am sure Linux is stable, but how much more stable can you get than never having to restart? EVERY TIME I start up my windows partition (which I admit is only XP), it takes forever to start up (on a MBA with solid state HD, no less), and is always trying to install some new virus software or bug me to update my software. I don't get that with the MAC OS partition, regardless of which version of the system software I am using.
Anyway, keep using linux all the way if you want, and keep getting free software if it makes you feel better. I'll stick with my mac laptops and desktops. I've tried them all, and decided this is the best solution for me. ;)
as Far as Linux goes I have a server at home that I haven't had to reboot in over 2 years, and yes it is used daily. ;) Well Mac OS became as stable when they built it on BSD UNIX :) And I have been in the IT industry for the last 13 years administrating Windows Mac And Linux servers and PC's. Linux is much easier to get working with Windows networks than a Mac is. especially now right out of the box as they say :)
and I am not trying to do a Windows/Mac pissing contest because I hate windows :)
Enjoy your new MBP!
Edit: ... and don't pay attention to the Apple haters. Most (not all) are too cheap and/or poor to buy Apple products.
I've been on an Apple desktop since last year.
It's cool but I need to get back on the PC to take advantage of some free stuff that costs on the Apple.
Eventually I'll be running LINUX too.
