hehehe Silly Mac user who doesn't realize that he just bought an Apple branded PC!!!!! Ah btw PC is the Hardware Architecture while Windows is the Operating System All you Mac-tastic users hate..
Linux all the way!!!! more stable than Mac can use on pretty much any hardware and most importantly it is FREE and so is 99.9% of it's software.![]()
If you're referring to me, I know very well the difference between mac/windows, and what a Personal Computer is. As I've said in other mac/windows pissing contests in this forum, not only do I use both on a near daily basis, but I used to be in charge of a small mixed platform network at my old job. I know the difference between mac/pc, I know how to and actually have upgraded both macs and windows computers (including processors on a mac, back when it was possible to upgrade processors on a mac), and I have even installed linux on both a mac and a PC, because I am nerdy like that and just wanted to see what it looked like. So if you're trying to paint me as a "silly mac user" who really doesn't know his way around a computer, you're barking up the wrong tree.
I use a mac because I like it, and have used macs since the SE days. Over the years, Microsoft hasn't really put anything out that has made me want to switch over to the windows side of things... not even during those dark days of systems 7, 8, and 9, when mac stability was often a crapshoot due to extensions conflicts.
Stability? I haven't restarted my MBA since I bought it last summer, and I use it every day, for up 8 hours a day. I am sure Linux is stable, but how much more stable can you get than never having to restart? EVERY TIME I start up my windows partition (which I admit is only XP), it takes forever to start up (on a MBA with solid state HD, no less), and is always trying to install some new virus software or bug me to update my software. I don't get that with the MAC OS partition, regardless of which version of the system software I am using.
Anyway, keep using linux all the way if you want, and keep getting free software if it makes you feel better. I'll stick with my mac laptops and desktops. I've tried them all, and decided this is the best solution for me.![]()
actually it wasn't painted at you at all. I know you are familiar with both worldsI was just pointing out that most mac users spit on PC's because all they know about them is Windows. When Linux and now Mac's are very much PC's
as Far as Linux goes I have a server at home that I haven't had to reboot in over 2 years, and yes it is used daily.Well Mac OS became as stable when they built it on BSD UNIX
And I have been in the IT industry for the last 13 years administrating Windows Mac And Linux servers and PC's. Linux is much easier to get working with Windows networks than a Mac is. especially now right out of the box as they say
and I am not trying to do a Windows/Mac pissing contest because I hate windows![]()

Good on you. I switched over to Mac in 08 and haven't looked back since. Never do I have to deal with malware, bluescreens, and DLL crashes... to mention a very few. I agree that Linux is a perfectly solid alternative, but I love Apple hardware and OSX way more.
Enjoy your new MBP!
Edit: ... and don't pay attention to the Apple haters. Most (not all) are too cheap and/or poor to buy Apple products.
I've been on an Apple desktop since last year.
It's cool but I need to get back on the PC to take advantage of some free stuff that costs on the Apple.
Eventually I'll be running LINUX too.
If you need to over pay for Apple (MAC) products to make you feel better by all means be my guest but it's not the pricing that makes people hate Apple it's the smugness. The ipod/ipad is a remarkable piece of equipment but the MAC is only functional if you're into the artsy crap (besides basic functions that my old Palm Treo can do).
I am secret asian man.
