Thats exactly what I needed to do RP. Just prior to me reading your post, I had to dump and reinstall Chrome. It became so erratic and unstable that I just pulled the plug. Something in the program files was definitely corrupt.
Now, she's flying high!
Whilst reasearching the issue, I ran into a few things to tweak to speed it up even faster.
Go to the wrench icon up top, on the right and open "Options". Under "Privicy" in "Under the Hood", un-select "Show suggestions for Navigation Errors" and "Use DNS pre-fetching....".
Much better.
As for another browser, I tried IE7 and that ****er crashed the second I hovered the freak'n arrow over the desktop icon...lol.
