Honestly, IMO the second one sucked compared to the first. The tracklist was superior in the GHI, but more importantly, the song renditions were much better. IN GHI, most songs sounded pretty close to the originals, while in GHII they mostly sounded like mediocre performances from garage bands.

Guitar Hero is worth it, any version, any system. My fave song to play is More Than A Feelin' even tho thats one of the easier ones. LOVE IT!
I'd imagine it would be more an issue of getting a hold of the multitrack recordings (since they have to be able to bleep out the guitar or bass when you eff up), but I'm sure they end up paying an arm and a leg no matter what.
I'm guessing that's why you end up with a piece of **** Stone's song like Can't You Hear Me Knockin' instead of something cool like paint it black or brown sugar. No extra $$$ for the really good songs. I'm sure you're right though that the original recordings would be MUCH more expensive.

Alright, so how the hell did they do this?

If you have a chipped PS2 you can add in whatever song you want and do a custom note map, then burn it to a dvd. I only looked at the steps once, and the guy claims it's not that hard but it looked like a bitch to me, and I'm a unix sys admin for a living.
Here are the steps:

I tried playing GH2 (360 version) yesterday at Best Buy and I can say that to me it's a lot easier to play a real guitar. Anyone feel the same way or is GH in general something that you have to get used to?
I've played guitar for 20 years and there's something about it that is WAY harder to me. I'm fine on the lower two levels but once you have to start switching positions to the sixth note and back, it really ****s me up.
I'm sure it's because with a real guitar, you can slow it down and figure out where it's appropriate to switch positions & back & forth but here the notes are just flying at you, but it really screws with me...
