Help me SuxBeingU you are my only hope. {Android}
As the resident mobil phone expert I need to know if my Droid HTC Incredible (1) has reached the end of the line.
Ever since the Gingerbread update the phone has not worked to it's full potential (low memory warnings, crashes, poor sync, even faster battery drain, etc). I've researched the problem and it looks like the phone is just too slow for then new OS. There are plenty of users looking for a fix but no solutions unless you root. Will it still be too slow even if I root and ROM? It looks to be a bit of a pain if I do root. Do I need to just face the fact that the phone is too old and it will need to be replaced in the near future to get the full Droid experience or do you have suggestions to help make it work better and usable for the future?
If I need a new phone, what is the best, newest phone to get for the Verizon network? I really like the HTC format.

Supposedly the update for the flawed Gingerbread update is coming. I was on the pone with both HTC and Verizon this week to see if it was coming, and when my phone would get any update, and all they said was soon, and upcoming. Last time they said this, it was about 6 months

"romming"a phone is always a good thing. Take off out the "crapware" the carriers install. That will help you two ways, more memory and faster processing.
You are not at the end of life but it is a good time to upgrade as Black Friday is right around the corner. The best phone on Verizon now is an opinion BUT the DROID is tops if you are looking to save a few bucks go with the Sammy Charge. I know the Charge is 99 at best buy adn should be free on Black Friday along with most smartphones, sans anything apple

Short term solution, root it and ROM it. My Droid X has been rooted for most of it's life and i couldn't be happier. More speed,under volted and no bloat with excellent battery life. The phone also looks visually striking and has people going "Woa nice" when they mess with it. XDA forums will have all your rooting answers if that's the direction you want to go.

Thanks for the input everyone.
Is it cool to get phones on ebay?
If I ROM it, what is the most stable trouble free system out there? I only know a little bit, is it best to go for a basic or better to delve in and go deeper?
So the newest best coming out are the Nexus Prime, Moto Razr any other good options. I may go w/ the Charge though it looks good and is pretty new. How much faster are the fall releases?

Whatever you get, it will be out-dated a week after you buy it.
