CBGB... you may have 2 problems here. Your wife's PC may have a problem along with your internet issue.... they may be completely unrelated too. Have you had anyone look at your wife's PC? If its working (albeit slow) for your mac, you're obviously getting service to your house..... (This is what I do, all day, every day.)

AT&T has fiber to the node. Verizon has fiber to the home. I was just meaning that Verizon and AT&T don't go into each others service area and not that AT&T doesn't have fiber. AT&T's fiber is called Uverse as you probably know.

I am not sure what the standalone Internet price is but the bundled Internet/TV (35/35 + the middle TV package) is about $100/mo. Verizon recently increased the internet speed to 43/35 without a price increase.

    I'm at 30/1 with TW.

And I agree. Get Linksys gear. It is awesome stuff and their tech guys are pretty on point.

My package is $140, since I went with Ultimate HD. VZ claims my internet is only $40, however I think the package discount for the Internet is $30. In fact, I just checked Verizon's site, and the 25/25 is $69.99 stand alone.

I think the 43/35 is temporary, as Verizon gets ready to move some channels over to IPTV from QAM. I have read that some of the least viewed HD channels are going to moved to IPTV, so I would think they would take some of that 8Mb/s and reallocate it to IPTV.

I use to have Time Warner Cable services, until I got tired of their over priced b.s. for which I felt I wasn't getting what I was paying for. Their internet service I had was cable modem that was (suppose-of-ly) 12 megs of speed, which I call b.s. because when I watch highlights of nhl games on yahoo sports it was pretty slow to where at times the video would stall for a moment to upload.

So I ended up switching ALL my services to AT&T. The have a router they give you that has 12megs of speed and it has been REALLY nice to my PC desktop.

If none of this works for you, what I did BEFORE I switched to AT&T was that I went to Target and got my-self my own router for like $40 or so and worked VERY well, until I just started using AT&T's now, since it works good, too.

The one I have is this one-

Belkin Surf Wireless Router - Black (F7D2301) : Target

Also your computer may be out dated for reason being it is slow at uploading, surfing the net, and etc.., so may want to get more ram for that there. That if watching videos is a problem on your computer too is a problem that you should update your video card/graphic card. I have a friend that is a computer tech that could help you for cheap.

Let me know if you need anything!

Tell your wife to get a Mac!

If she really needs her windows-only apps, install VMWare Fusion.

Are the "X/Y" numbers people are posting here supposed to be download speed/upload speed?

Please don't say yes, 'cause then I'll know I'm getting *#&^ed by TW with ....

    1.5 Mbits/sec download
    0.37 Mbits/sec upload
    $38.99/month

.... does being in a Multi-Unit Dwelling (apt / condo) make this more reasonable? I've heard cable speeds can take a nosedive in a MUD.
