    Default Help! Windows Activation Error

    Running Vista 32-bit.

Computer boots up to a blank desktop except for an error box that says:

    Windows Activation
    An error has occured.

    Code 0xC004E002

    WTF?

I can't access anything on my computer as my desktop is totally blank otherwise. The only reason I am even accessing internet is because there is a link to microsoft in the box as well.

I wonder how long it's going to be before someone pipes in, " You should've gotten a Mac."

No clue to be honest. Try searching google using "Activation" and "0xC004E002" as keywords.

This may seem obvious, but call Microsoft. I've seen some codes become deactivated. I don't know the reason why, but it happens.

Can you log on to your computer in Safe Mode?

here is someone else who had a similar if not the same problem and how to fix it.

If Microsoft deactivates them it would be because the CD Key that was used was on the list of Pirated Keys. It could also just be a bug in the Windows Update too.
Microsoft is known for breaking features while trying to fix other ones.
