The holographic images would be captured from 360 degrees by 200 high-definition cameras during each game and then transmitted as three-dimensional images. According to Japan, the games could be projected onto real football (soccer) pitches around the world, simulating a real match for audiences and giving the illusion of watching the real game taking place in Japan.
Microphones installed below the pitch where the actual game is taking place would record all sounds during the game, including the ball being kicked, the referee’s whistle and crowd reactions, to create an ultra-realistic digital version of the 2022 FIFA World Cup for audiences on the other side of the world.
