I have a nearly 4 year old HP Officejet 6210 AIO and I love it. Still running like a trooper and never had any issues.

HP puts out a good printer. If you have more than one computer in your house and a home network you might want to look into a computer that can print through the network so any computer can print to it without a host computer being on.

I purchased this not too long ago:

Canon Direct Store- PIXMA MX860 Wireless

Except for a small Snow Leopard hiccup, it does a pretty good job. I love how I can scan an item on it and have it automatically save it to any of my computers in the house. I have to say I haven't tried any photo's on it yet as my wife has an Epson Stylus R2400 for that.

The 74/75 cartridge system is one of the better entry level ink systems that HP has put out. Both of them come in XL sizes for around $35 (750 pages max black) and $40 (525 pages max color) If you are doing the occasional print or scan it works great.
