Sceptre? I'd look at the Westinghouse tv's before that unknown brand.

Sceptre isn't actually an unknown brand for computer monitors. I have used a 22 inch model for the past 6 months and it's flawless.

Thanks guys! As much as I would love an Aquos, I may have to settle for soemthing else. My landlord is letting me borrow a tv, so we'll see how long I can go with using that one before I break down and need a better one.

FYI, I am very happy with my Sony SXRD 50" 1080HD (living room) and my Vizio 40" HD TV (bedroom). Bought the Sony at Audio and Visual Store in Santa Monica with no sales tax. The Vizio was purchased at Costco. Havent had any issues with either set.
My buddy, Seraphim, tried to sell me on the Sharp Aquos. Its a great TV but i didnt want to spend the excess money for that TV. I bought the Vizio instead....Regardless GOOD LUCK with your future purchase.

I'm thinking about getting the 55" SXRD for the living room. LCoS technology is great.

I need to get a small (27" or so) tv for my bedroom and was thinking about the Aquos line. Now I'm debating on whether or not something that nice is necessary when I don't watch much tv in my room. Maybe I'll check out Vizio or Olevia and see how they compare.

As far as HDMI for cable or sat boxes, it really isn't necessary. The output from most of those boxes is only 1080i at this time. It is easier, since it carries the sound as well as the video, but it won't improve the picture compared to component cables.
ok, now this seems too good to be true! I looked at sites liek circuit city, best buy and even BJs (NY's version of costco) and no one has this TV for less than $1000. My dad said he'd front the $$ for me, so its not such a huge issue on price, but its still a factor.

Newegg is a very trustworthy site but you've GOT to read the customer reviews ESPECIALLY before purchasing a TV.

Here's one that has many more reviews and is actually cheaper.

That 27" Olevia be the TV I just bought. I went with 6ave.com though. The base price is a bit higher but there is no shipping charge or tax. $438 out the door. Plus I've bought from them before and they use DHL to ship which is always a plus. An HDMI cable from monoprice and an side arm mount puts me at just over $500 for a decent bedroom TV. I'm happy.

Check the Costco mailer that arrived yesterday. It has some deals on some of the tv's mentioned earlier.
