I'm buying a new television soon...

As some of you may know, I moved to NY about a month ago (a month already?!) and I'll be moving into my own place tomorrow. My landlord is lending me her TV until i find one to buy. This one I posted above seems too good to be true. I've never heard of this brand.

My main concern is will there be enough input/outputs for my TiVo and a cable box and a DVD player? Though, the cable box probably goes through the TiVo, yes?

Does this seem decent? I dont know what any of those numbers mean!

thats a very good deal. Not familiar with the brand and for the price It certainly no Sharp Aquos but its a great price.
Also Costco gives you a 90 day return policy. if it is crap you have 3 monthes to take it back

IMO, Sceptre is a poor man's Viewsonic. Mostly known for computer monitors, they have gotten into TV's. Some issues with picture jumping on fast action and not the best audio.

That being said, the price quoted is pretty good. Costco is also adding an extra year to the manufacturer warranty on all consumer electronics.

Since they have changed the return policy to 90 days, I would ask if this unit has in home service and who/where is the nearest authorized servicer

If you want HD you will need to substitute your TiVo for and an HD DVR from your cable or satellite provider, it sucks but that's reality.

Pretty much any TV you buy today will have the proper connections.

Go to Costco and see what other deals they have in store.

The response time is a good indication on how your viewing will be on fast action HD content. For best results you would like a response time of 6 ms. For that price I wouldn't worry about the difference. You will still be awed by the HD picture. Be sure to use the HDMI from your cable or sat. box to the tv. I wouldn't worry too much about the brand name for that price either. If you are buying from Costco you have an additional year of warranty beyond the manufacture warranty.

NIC Don't know if they have CompUSAs out your way BUT I was in one today and they have everything 15-40% off. They are going out of business. They had some decent deals and plenty of stock. I am sure they will go lower but the choices will be limited.

I would suggest this for a few hundred more.

As far as HDMI for cable or sat boxes, it really isn't necessary. The output from most of those boxes is only 1080i at this time. It is easier, since it carries the sound as well as the video, but it won't improve the picture compared to component cables.

While i don't have that specific model I do have a 32" Aquos, Model # LC-32GA5U. Aquos are amazing products. I would absolutely go with psychopuck's suggestion. In 1 months time you will forget about the extra $300 but will have a much better TV for a long time. I am still amazed how good my Aquos looks in HD and in SD. (A lot of HD tv's look bad when viewing an SD broadcast.)

Personally I think that the contrast ratio ends up being the most important factor here. In a basic nutshell it means is how black is black and how white is white and how your eyes can tell the difference. With the newest TV's being produced at a contrast ratio of 20,000 to 10,000, you can see that some of these cheaper tv's don't measure up to it. Now, if you have limited funds and don't want to spend 7 grand on a 1,920x1,080 resolution, 10,000 contrast ratio TV...then I am pretty sure that the TV you are getting will still look quite awesome. Now, if you go into the shop and actually watch them side by side you will definately notice the contrast ratio, resolution, color saturation and even the color accuracy between each TV. I highly reccomend taking a look at TV's side by side and later if you want purchasing online. It is the best way to see exactly how your TV will perform.

My personal list of what is most important from top to bottom: Contrast ratio, color saturation, color accuracy and finally resolution.
