    Default ****ing Norton!

Does anyone know how to restore (mainly pick and choose files) from a Norton 360 v3.0 backup on a external drive without having to download/install/subscribe that goddamn program?

My laptop crashed and I had to do a clean sweep/install. I have a few thousand old photos and my resume I need to recover.

So it seems if you let the subscription expire, you can not access the backup that has been stored because it has been encrypted in a Symantec ease. Norton failed to mention this when I originally loaded that piece of crap program 3 years ago.

Ive googled it but I keep coming up mostly empty.

You can get it free if you check the Fry's ads etc.

Someone on another board mentioned I should load the trial version from Symantec in which I did. After a 40 minute install, giving the CC# and other hoops, the trial version's backup feature is locked until a full purchase is made for $79. F that and F Symantec!

If reinstalling v3.0 and upping the subscription is the only and I mean ONLY way to retrieve the pics and stuff then it looks like I'll have to go that route but I need to exhaust all my options first.

I dont want a single Symantec byte on my comp. Not a one. Douchbag company.

you should be able to access you backups even with an expired subscription, have you tried installing the full version?

i know you dont want to, but it may be the only way.
