one of hte execs at my company has the epic and there is a lot of issue with his exchange email connection. I have had to setup his email 8 times in the first month. And i have never had an issue with my Droid X so I know it isn't the OS unless Sprint made changes to the exchange features.

i have both an iphone and an android phone. i like them both in different ways. i would consider myself a power user in both. here are some pros and cons i noticed on my phones.

    ios
pros: it is a great phone out of the box. there are a lot of apps available from developers.
cons: if you want to modify your phone, you're going to need to jailbreak. it's easy, but an extra step.

    android
pros: anything you want to customize on your phone, you can pretty much do. somethings you will need to root, but that is also easy.
cons: it is a little crude out of the box. not as polished as the iOS. but you can easily modify it to make it how you want. extra steps, but definitely possible.

those are the things i noticed about the two. i have good att reception as well as verizon, so it doesn't really matter to me. i do like my android phone better because it's newer and faster. but if i had a newer iphone, i would possibly use the iphone as much as the android. it's a toss up. i don't think you can go wrong either way.

in my opinion a power user that likes to modify their phones will enjoy the android system more. not saying the iphone can't be modified (jailbreak) but the android is really easy to modify to your hearts desire. if you buy a phone and just want to use it without messing with it, i'd rather get an iphone.

    hope that helps.

Thanks for all the replies. I've decided to wait until January's release of phones and see. I love a lot of things about my iPhone4, so, I'm hoping that the new jailbreak coming (rumored 24th of December) will put my mind at ease. Either way, it's good to know that I have a decent alternative that may be just as good and that so many people are happy with 'em.

In case you do go android I'd recommend rooting (jailbreaking) the phone. Some very good apps out there that require root, upgrades before their released, custom roms, modified kernels, battery tweaks, ui mods, etc. After seeing everything that can be done with an open source os I could never go to apple, but to each his own.

I am not saying the EVO isn't a good phone I said I like the EPIC better. I don't like full touch phones and the EVO doesn't feel good in my hand too square and flat

    Different strokes.......
I have an Evo, my pops had the Epic. After getting used to a 4.3 inch screen the Epic does feel small. Anything less than 4 feels like a kids toy. I also don't like the feel of the Epic, feels too plasticy. Sense destroys the UI that samsung overlays on their phones (though I prefer a vanilla rom). Also GPS problems. I still think the Epic is a good phone but no way would I recommend it over the Evo. I really like htc phones, will stick with them on my next buy.
