Thread: iPhone to Android

So... I've just about had enough of AT&T's awful service. For a few years, I had almost no issues with it. Lately, it's almost unusable. The 3G data service is virtually useless, and the voice ... well, let's just say I have to turn off 3G so I can use voice on Edge in most areas.

Sure, I can wait until the iPhone is released with Verizon ... but I'm starting to look at other options out there. Everyone I know who has an Android phone swears by it... and for good reasons. Just playing around with the Droid I noticed that it doesn't really have that "big brother is controlling what you can do" type of feeling I get with iOS. I realize Jailbreaking is an option, but it's a big pain in the ass to upgrade. For instance, there currently is no support for an untethered jailbreak for the current version of iOS.

My question is for those who switched from iPhone to Android (if any). How was the transition? What do you miss most that you don't get on Android?

BTW, the phones I'm looking at are the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and the Sprint Evo 4G... yes, I want 4G.

I don't miss anything about the iPhone. Not one thing.

I would recommend Verizon as I've had them for 7 years and haven't had any problems with them at all. Not with the phones, signal, or customer service.

But, whatever you do, go droid.

My wife and I have EVO, and we absolutely love them. Just be aware that the EVO adds $10 a month to your monthly bill.

Not an iphone guy so I hate It.
If I were going with Sprint I would look at the EPIC. IMO the best android device on Sprint. I love the physical keyboard. I only I get one from Sony Ericsson.
Jan 9-11 is CES and you will see quite a few NEW phones announced include 1.2 and 1.5 Ghz processors for phones.
In Feburary you have the Superbowl of the Cellphone industry called mobile World Conference in Barcelona. All makers will announce even more and all their flagship devices for 2011 here.
If you're not in a hurry you can always wait and see whats rolling out next year.
You can always trade your iphone for an android device and stay on ATT for a bit as well. I know a guy who can make this happen

I have nit heard of GPS issues. Smaller screen? really? by .3 inches. Some have complained the EVO is too thin and fragile. Someone here has had their in service a couple times already, maybe he;ll post about it.

I am not saying the EVO isn't a good phone I said I like the EPIC better. I don't like full touch phones and the EVO doesn't feel good in my hand too square and flat
